Surprises || Ian & Wanderer

ianosheax:

His eyes tries to remain on hers as he speaks. He was hoping that she would just calm down for a moment and accept the fact that she was basically stuck with him. He gives her a small reassuring smile, just to further prove that what he was saying was true, and she didn’t need to fret on these things. Ian, of course, knew she would continue to do so, but at least for the moment maybe he could sway her mind just a little bit.

A small laugh emitted from his lips and he couldn’t help but giver her a smile. Their eyes were locked and Ian could feel his heartbeat pick up before she took a moment to breathe and then ramble. He disliked how she was so frustrated sometimes. Then again he was never in her position so he didn’t understand it, but he just really wishes that she wouldn’t take everything so heavily. Looking down he shakes his head while he licks his lips. His calloused hands run up and down her legs as he looks back up at her.

“Babe, that’s how it’s supposed to be. Love isn’t something you can fully express into words. Some things are needed to be shown through something else. Like music, poetry, or little things. Not everything is meant to be spoken.”He leans in and places a small kiss on both of her cheeks. “You can show love through actions like that.” Then he kisses her forehead and her nose. “Or that…or this.” His voice is barely above a whisper as he leans in and kisses her on her lips before trailing his lips down her jawline and neck.

Taking a moment to let it set in, he leans back and looks at her before she starts to list off things that she likes. “You really want to show me how much you like it?” His eyebrows perk up and he bites on his bottom lip. At her slight nod he speaks again. “You can just be with me.” He sends her a small wink before leaning in and capturing her lips in a sweet kiss.

Ian pulled back after a couple moments, seeing the slight crease in her brows. She was pondering something and he thought she looked incredibly cute. At her question he has to think on it for a second before coming up with an answer. “Love is a mystery, honestly. It takes work from both people in a relationship. So I guess it can be hard, I guess it just depends.” Licking his lips, he sighs. He didn’t really know what it depended on, considering he had never been truly in love until her. “How about instead of questioning everything, we just lay down? Sound good?” His head tilts down a little as his eyes search hers.

It wasn’t like she needed Ian’s constant reassurance. She just knew when some things were just too good to be true. His love was at the highest of that list an she would probably spend forever with the question why in the back of her mind. Why did he love her? Why was the one she was mean to be with after coming across so many different potential loves? Just… why?

She knew it was frustrating for him. She could see it in the hard set of his jaw or the way his fingers clenched in a way that you wouldn’t notice unless you were paying attention. She was always paying attention.

She sighed heavily against his chest, her breath sending ripples along the fabric of his shirt. She liked the feel of his hands running over her legs, the path leaving fire in its wake. She opened her eyes and looked up at him. His blue eyes melted into hers and she traced the impossibly perfect outline of his jaw with her eyes. She wasn’t used to the complicated feelings. She wasn’t sure if her soul was really equipped to handle love in this human way. It was so… complicated and messy and it was never one thing for very long.

She nodded her head as he spoke, soaking everything in. Poetry, music… she made a mental note to try some of those things for him. Her thoughts came to an abrupt stop as his lips connected with her cheek. And then the other. Right. Kissing. That was an obvious one. It wasn’t like she didn’t know what her feelings were doing when they kissed. Her stomach was constantly in delicious knots, the insides so hot she figured for sure she was on fire.

Jared’s kisses were nothing like Ian’s. She would never understand why she had thought she would still be so in love with him after she had this. This that was so hers and so right.

A sound she was sure she had not given permission to leave her mouth fought its way through her lips as he kissed down her jawline and to the sensitive skin of her neck. It was a quiet whimper and it was completely involuntary. Her cheeks paled and then colored scarlet. The shyness in her new host body betraying her.

“I love you,” she breathed, her eyes having fallen closed as he pulled away from her. She nodded at his next words. That seemed easy enough. He had to know that doubting herself was far from over, but laying beside him was definitely something she could do.

She crawled up to her pillow and waited until he laid down to curl into his side. “I’m going to try and write you a poem. It might not be very good, but I’m going to try anyway.” It didn’t occur to her that maybe she should have kept it to herself and given it to him as a surprise until after the words left her mouth. “Or maybe not,” she tried to recover dumbly.

“I’m glad we’re in our own room now. No offense to Jamie, but you’re the only man I want to snuggle with at night.”
